iCandy Interactive, parent company of Malaysian studio Lemon Sky Studios is suing its former heads and founders over allegations of stolen money.

In a press statement, the company says that the two studio founders, Cheng Fei Wong and Ka King Foong, had been siphoning money from the studio via a sub-contractor called Momodica Sdn Bhd.

The statement alleges that RM1,505,750 was shelled out by Lemon Sky Studios to Momodica Sdn Bhd, and was discovered via a forensic audit.

“Lemon Sky does not rule out the possibility of bringing further legal actions against Wong, Foong, Momodica, and other former or current employees of Lemon Sky that had been knowingly facilitating these ill-intentioned activities or similar”, iCandy said in their statement.

That being said, the statement does not highlight exactly what legal action is being taken against the two founders of the studio, such as specific charges.

According to the MDEC website, Momodica was incorporated in 2023, while the two founders were serving their managerial roles post-acquisition by iCandy.

The local studio came into the forefront with the announcement that its two founding members had departed the company in August, with iCandy Interactive, who had acquired the studio in 2021, filling their roles in the interim.

In the time since then Cheng Fei Wong has already announced a new studio, though neither of the two have commented on their involvement with Momodica.
