Capcom has unveiled new information about the upcoming Onimusha Way of the Sword, the latest entry in the Onimusha series.
Set to release in 2026, Capcom confirmed that Onimusha Way of the Sword would feature a new protagonist, set in Kyoto as you fight Genma with the use of your Oni Gauntlet.
The game will be releasing on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam.
Additionally, Capcom’s presentation yielded one more surprise: a remaster for Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny coming later this year for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and Steam.
Onimusha Way of the Sword Gameplay
Satoru Nihei, director of the game says they weren’t looking to make an “impossibly difficult” entry with Way of the Sword- rather build on the thrill of sword fighting in feudal Japan.
“Instead, we want to make a game where fans of action can experience thrilling sword fights and taste satisfaction from slaying their enemies”, he says
This includes knowing when to suck up the souls of enemies, as well as unleashing special attacks on crowds.
He also guaranteed that the game would still include blood and dismemberment.
That being said, the presentation itself was light on the specifics of how Onimusha Way of the Sword would work, as no gameplay was shown.
