Kadokawa has put out a new trailer for its upcoming anime adaptation of Tai Ari Deshita: Young Ladies Don’t Play Fighting Games.
The anime, which is about two girls at a prestigious all-girls school secretly competing in fighting game tournaments, seems to have made one major change from the manga: instead of playing the fictional game Iron Senpai 4, it’s been replaced with Capcom’s Street Fighter 6, even featuring actual in-game footage.
According to the website, the series has also partnered with fighting game apparel makers Hori and Madcatz.
This isn’t the first time this has happened either- the live action adaptation of the series also featured the girls playing Street Fighter V.
There’s no concrete release date for Young Ladies Don’t Play Fighting Games just yet- though the teaser confirms the series will release in 2025.
Young Ladies Don’t Play Fighting Games Synopsis
The anime follows Aya Mitsuki, a young girl who dreams of being a model lady- and is accepted into a posh girls school for that reason.
She meets the school idol Mio Yorue, the seemingly perfect lady- until it’s revealed that Mio is super into fighting games, something the academy frowns upon and that Aya is also good at.
The manga goes pretty into the nitty-gritty of fighting games themselves- often explaining technical terms as the characters play.
Series mangaka Eri Ejima is also the official artist for this year’s EVO Japan, with the anime having a booth at the event.
