It’s a sad day in the Hololive community as one of the on-screen producers Friend A, also known as A Chan has announced she would be leaving the Vtuber company.

A Chan

In a surprise tweet, she said that she had been away from the company due to “family health concerns”, and rather than take an extended hiatus would be resigning instead.

“I, Friend A, will be leaving Hololive production at the end of June because it seems highly unlikely that I would be able to return to work as planned”, she said in a letter.

“Over the past seven years or so, I have gone from starting off supporting my best friend Sora’s dream of becoming an idol, to meeting and interacting with hololive production fans worldwide”, it continues.

“Every step of this journey has been an incredibly valuable experience”, she says.

Cover Corporation CEO Motoaki Tanigo wished A Chan good luck and thanking her for her contributions over the better chunk of a decade.

“I am very grateful for your hard work as a bridge between the fans, talents, and staff. Thank you so much for all this time!”, he says.

The Legacy of A Chan

A Chan

A Chan, as she was dubbed by fans was one of the many oddities of the culture around Hololive- while originally a manager for Vtuber Tokino Sora she would go on to have her own fan following, largely driven in part by her growing role emceeing official events on the Hololive YouTube channel.

Despite not primarily being a Vtuber, A Chan could be seen joining streams with Hololive talents

Similar to the talents she even had her own rigged avatar, and the company even sold merch based on the character’s design.

The character even appeared in Cover’s Holo No Graffiti series, often playing the straight man to the rest of the series’ more absurdist tones.

It’s not like that hole is completely empty, however, as in recent years Cover Corporation had also debuted Nodoka, another staff member with her own on-screen avatar.
