Capcom Cup X Winner UMA has bagged the 1 million USD prize, after a hard fought battle at the inaugural Street Fighter 6 Capcom Cup tournament.
The Capcom Cup X winner defeated Chris Wong in Grand Finals following a bracket reset, being the first time a Juri player has won a major tournament.
The final moments of the match itself was an intense nail-biter, with UMA capitalizing on Chris Wong’s burnout with a high-damage combo followed by a stun.
“Thanks to the whole Taiwan FGC and my family and friends, they’re why I have a chance”, he said while being interviewed on stage.
Capcom Cup X saw many huge upsets, with tournament favorites like MenaRD and AngryBird being eliminated before Top 8.
Capcom Cup X And Beyond
The Capcom Pro Tour 2023 has been a hotly competed race, after Capcom announced a prize pool of 2 million USD.
Of the 2 million, half of it would go to the winner, being the largest grand prize in a fighting game major yet.
The circuit ran multiple events around the world, including an offline at Singapore as part of Gamescom Asia in 2023.
Capcom president and COO Haurhiro Tsujimoto confirmed that while the overall prize pool would be more similar to previous years events, next year’s grand prize would still be 1 million USD.
