By now, Tarnished adventurers in the ELDEN RING Shadow of the Erdtree DLC must have met Moore, the incredibly kind merchant friend. As a member of the Forager Broods, he has six Forager Brood companions scattered across the Shadow Realm. Players can find these bug-like creatures, resembling Kindred of Rots in the base game, interact with them, and obtain various crafting cookbooks and materials.

Although these bugs resemble Kindred of Rots, they are not aggressive. However, I believe many Tarnished, after their baptism in the main game Caelid area, might mistakenly attack these Forager Broods thinking they are Kindred of Rot enemies. Don’t do that—they are friends! If you’re worried about accidentally killing them, you can refer to the list I’ve prepared of their locations. Check out where these friends are hiding!

1. Forager Brood Cookbook (1)

After defeating the Twin Moon Knights Boss, enter the Scadu Altus area. Move forward towards right, then turn back and head to the cliff bottom below the Boss room. You’ll find a Forager Brood at the edge of the cliff, interacting with it will grant you a Glintslab Firefly material and Forager Brood Cookbook (1), which is used to craft Spellproof Pickled Liver.

2. Forager Brood Cookbook (2)

In the forest to the southwest of the Clifforad Terminus Site of Grace in Gravesite Plain, there’s a Forager Brood there, interacting with it will grant you a Blackpyre Firefly material and Forager Brood Cookbook (2), used to craft Fireproof Pickled Liver.

3. Forager Brood Cookbook (3)

At the southeastern end of the Ellac River downstream, reach the lowest level to the forest area. This area is populated by many electrified sheep, and is the only path to the Cerulean Coast. One Forager Brood can be found at the northern/northeastern edge of this forest area, interacting with it will grant you Fulgurbloom material and Forager Brood Cookbook (3), used to craft Lightningproof Pickled Liver.

4. Forager Brood Cookbook (4) & (7)

At the cliff edge to the north of the Church of the Crusader in the Scadu Altus area, you can find another Forager Brood. Unlike the previous three, players need to solve a small puzzle to receive the reward from it.

You’ll notice this poor friend is curled up and shivering, in a wounded state, and doesn’t respond when you interact with it. The correct way to solve the puzzle is to use a Warming Stone or Sunwarmth Stone next to it to heal and warm it. Then, rest at a site of Grace to refresh the area, and interact with it again to receive its gratitude reward — a Scadu Sunflower material and Forager Brood Cookbook (4), used to craft Holyproof Pickled Liver.

Be extra careful with this Forager Brood. From the picture below, you can see the terrible mistake I’ve made! I just accidentally rolled near it, and it ended up dead because at this point it only has a sliver of health left, yeah, it died because of my roll! If you ended up like me, killed the poor thing, Moore will invade you because his friend was killed. Fortunately, the main Moore NPC doesn’t seem to be aware of this, and his questline continues as usual. So, I let Moore’s invading spirit eternally stand by this poor Forager Brood’s corpse, guarding it.

After successfully solving the puzzle and helping the Forager Brood regain its strength, you can go back and talk to Moore. Upon learning that you helped his friend, he will reward you with Forager Brood Cookbook (7).

Note that if your main progress has reached a certain stage (refer to Forager Brood Cookbook (6)), when talking to Moore, he will ask you a question and you’ll need to tell him what to do, and this is part of Moore’s side quest. Please do not complete this part immediately, it’s better to tell him to continue the side quest after you’ve collected all the remaining cookbooks.

5. Forager Brood Cookbook (5)

Starting from the Moorth Ruins in the Scadu Altus area, go through the cave to the north. On the other side of the cave, you’ll find the players’ most favorite poison swamp area. One Forager Brood is located at the edge of this poison pool, interacting with it will grant you Pearlescent Scales and Forager Brood Cookbook (5), used to craft Opaline Pickled Liver.

6. Forager Brood Cookbook (6)

From the Church District High Road site of Grace outside of Shadow Keep, turn back and head west, climb up the cliff to reach the cliffside outside the eastern wall of Shadow Keep. There, you will find another Forager Brood, interacting with it will grant you a Dewgem and Forager Brood Cookbook (6), used to craft Well-Pickled Turtle Neck.

Note that entering Shadow Kepp is one of the main requirement to advance the main questline, which can affect certain NPC side quests, such as Moore’s whereabouts. Therefore, it’s recommended for Tarnished to obtain Forager Brood Cookbook (4) and (7) first before proceeding to get this cookbook.
