After yesterday’s reveal of the follow up to Fatal Fury, we now have more information on the City Of The Wolves Rev System.

Thanks to hands-on previews with YouTubers Maximillian Dood and FGC pro Justin Wong, we’ve gotten a better explanation of how the gameplay in City of the Wolves is going to be.

City of the Wolves Rev System

Similar to Street Fighter 6’s Drive System, the City of the Wolves Rev System is a series of tools that can be used independently of the super meter, instead having their own unique gauge.

Rather than being a meter that drains like in Street Fighter 6, it’s instead represented as one that fills up- doing Rev actions revs the meter up, with players overheating if they use it too much.

Players can cool down the Rev meter by continuing their offense, as well as using the 2-bar secret super that all characters have.

The Rev system has multiple uses, though the one that’s probably going to see the most use is Rev Arts. These are powerful EX moves, costing a chunk of Rev but doing big damage, and also can be chained into each other if you’re willing to go all-out on offense using what’s called Rev Accel.

Another one is the Rev Blow, which ties into the game’s SPG system and allows you do to an armored move, either exploiting gaps in player pressure or allowing you to safely start your offense.

On the defensive side players will have access to the Rev Guard, which is a push block to help keep opponents out as long as you can keep guarding against their offense.

Other System Mechanics

However, City of the Wolves will have more than just Rev mechanics- the game will also feature the SPG System, which is similar to the TOP system from Fatal Fury.

Here, you designate a portion of your life bar where, when your character is in that portion, they gain access to new abilities like health regeneration and the aforementioned Rev Blow.

Also returning from previous games is the Brake and Feint systems, with some moves having feint variants and open up more combo routes.

The game also features Hyper Defense, a parry that rewards you just-blocking multi-hit attacks.

Basically, after Just-Blocking the first hit, players can press forward to parry the second hit, allowing for faster recovery and the ability to take their turn back.
