SEGA and ATLUS have announced the Metaphor ReFantazio release date for fans awaiting the new JRPG series by the Persona company.
In a special broadcast today they revealed that the Metaphor ReFantazio release date is set for 11th October 2024 for Xbox Series X|S as well as PC.
The trailer shows more of the setting for Metaphor ReFantazio, alongside gameplay and new locations for the JRPG title.
Similar to the Persona series, Metaphor ReFantazio will put a focus on time- the special program stressed that there will be a time window to complete story quests when you reach new towns.
Metaphor ReFantazio Combat
Alongside the Metaphor ReFantazio release date, they also did a deep dive into the combat system, which sticks to the ATLUS formula of stylish turn-based combat.
That being said, in an attempt to speed up slower encounters, players will be able to attack weaker mobs in the overworld, ending the fight immediately without needing to transition into the battle stage.
Characters in your party will have access to Archetypes, which determine their playstyle.
These function similar to Personas in the Persona games, with each Archetype having its own set of skills it can use.
Party members can also equip other Archetypes, and will not be locked to any one build.
Similarly, the Archetype system can be expanded by building bonds with your followers, not unlike the Social Link system.
