NetherRealm studios has announced a huge boon to their latest games’ playerbase: Mortal Kombat 1 Crossplay, letting players fight each other regardless of platform.

Announced today, Mortal Kombat 1 crossplay will be available for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, with the game’s Nintendo Switch version being left out.

The feature drops next week as part of the same update that sees Peacemaker coming to the game’s cast, played by John Cena.

Peacemaker features a variety of tools for different situations, such as a pistol for zoning as well as body projectiles and the ability to command Eagley to hit his opponents.

The character will be available for Early Access from February 28th, with a full release on March 6th and Kameo fighter Janet Cage “Later in March”.

Crossplay appears to be one of the hot-button features in modern fighting games- previously the community would have to be fractured based on platform, with the community deciding if PC or console versions would be the “main” way to enjoy a title.

However, this generation of fighting games has seen an increased push for Crossplay- Street Fighter 6 and Tekken 8 both launched with the feature, while Guilty Gear Strive had it patched into the game after launch.
