SEGA has announced the next mobile game to feature Sonic The Hedgehog: Sonic Rumble, a battle royale featuring their iconic blue hedgehog.
In a trailer, they showed off the core gameplay of Sonic Rumble- that is, to play 3D Sonic levels with 31 other players on the stage with you.
The game is slated for release this Winter, and will allow you to play as a multitude of Sonic characters, from classics like Sonic, Knuckles and Tails to fan favorites like Shadow to even villains like Eggman and Metal Sonic.
You’ll even be able to customize the characters, with all sorts of outfits like a pirate getup for Shadow the Hedgehog.
Sign-ups for the closed beta are available now until May 19th, with the beta set for May 24th to May 26th.
Gameplay-wise, it looks like Sonic Rumble will have all the Sonic staples- from jump pads to rail grinding to even 2D segments as you run from bigger enemies.
Despite the large roster of characters, it’s not currently known if they would play any differently from each other similar to other Sonic games.
Sonic Rumble Joins The Sonic Mobile Lineup
Sonic is no stranger to the mobile platform- the blue mascot has multiple gacha games, as well as two Apple Arcade titles to his name.
Sonic Mania+ is also currently playable on mobile via Netflix Games.
