After weeks of rumors and speculations, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer has confirmed in today’s Xbox Business Update podcast that some first party games would be heading to other consoles.

Spencer declined to name which games specifically would be making the jump- though he did confirm it would not be Starfield or the upcoming Indiana Jones game.

“We made this decision with the long-term health of Xbox in mind”, Spencer said on the Xbox Business Update.

He also said that these four games would not be a herald of a multiplatform arc for the company- simply saying “No promises” on more titles making the jump.

Overall, fanboys worried that Xbox would be ending their console exclusivity basically have nothing to worry about, with any games that might get the multiplatform treatment being more of a case-by-case basis.

Xbox And Multiplatform Games

Interestingly enough, some of Xbox’s best successes have come from branching out the Xbox brand: As Spencer himself notes, a huge driver of Minecraft’s success was its ability to be played anywhere, from PC to different consoles to even mobile devices.

Similarly, the decision to put Xbox games on PC via PC Game Pass has also boded well in terms of outreach- games like the Halo series are now playable on PC via Game Pass, and other titles like Killer Instinct finding their communities on Steam.
