When the One Piece Live Action series was officially announced, fans were skeptical on the whole idea of this Netflix Live-Action treatment that flops so hard and wrecks even the best of the best Manga series. Even with the loud protesting voices from the One Piece fandom, the shooting went on in silence, and the production crew has even went to the extent of inviting Eiichiro Oda san as the producer of the TV series.

• Avatar: The Last Airbender will no longer release in 2023, but Netflix believes this will be their Stranger Things
• One Piece tested horribly, the CGI looked bad and the story didn’t make sense to non-fans, and they’re rewriting entire eps
And recently, Divinity Seeker, a famous movie critic on Twitter has stated their feedback on the Test Screening of the said series, and their response was that the series is like a “Slaughterfest” to the original series, and the fans alike. Besides the terrible CGI effects used, to non-fan viewers, the plot is presented in a way that it doesn’t make any sense. Netflix hurried to rewriting all the scripts for the series after receiving all these feedbacks.
On #OnePiece: in the first episode the first half is completely all flashbacks/features a Young Luffy, before we jump to the present and rush through introductions to Zoro, Nami, Usopp and Sanji all within the remaining 15 minutes, a major deviation from the source material.

And in a thread of tweets, Divinity Seeker has mentioned that the first episode deviates from the original works too greatly, with the first episode of the test screening be filled with Young Luffy’s memories, and suddenly pushes 4 of the Strawhats to the audiences.

Informants have stated that the tone that the live action series was terribly built and executed, as the actors look too different from the actual characters, which made it a fairly odd visual experience. And in the same tweet, they have mentioned that the Baratie restaurant will appear on the 3rd episode, where the crew first meets Sanji.
This is all I know! I know nothing about the original source material so I’m just repeating some of what I think may be of interest to a source connected to Netflix projects and execution of their roadmap.

Yet it is worth noting that Divinity Seeker themselves have mentioned that they didn’t know anything about the original series, thus other than the terrible CGI and messy plot progression, the remaining elements of the show seemed decent, with just some hiccups in the actor’s hair colour being slightly different from their characters.
Though the first test screening didn’t meet the expectation of the production crew, the fan’s feedback seemed beneficial enough for them to resolve the issue before the actual release, which may help in the final product, increasing the level of acceptance for the audience later on. Let’s anticipate the actual release of this Live Action One Piece when it launches, and what big waves it will be making when it drops!
