Dolls Nest , an upcoming mecha shooter has been announced on Steam, offering fast paced combat and cute anime girls.

Developed by NITRO PLUS, the game appears to take influence from popular games like Armored Core, as it lets you customize your anime girl with a variety of mechanical parts to better fly around and fight off giant mechs.

The game’s Steam page only mentions that it’s coming out some time in 2024, so it looks like we’ll have to wait a bit for a more concrete release date.

Dolls Nest Gameplay

It looks like you’ll be able to customize left and right weapons, alongside boosters and legs to build your character, alongside color and hair options for the girl piloting it.

Legs themselves seem to vary Armored Core style, with the trailer showing bipedal, reverse-joint and tetrapod legs as all being options.

Dolls Nest takes place in the setting of Hod, an abandoned factory world crawling with mechanical horrors.

Your character is a Doll, who needs to balance their Energy consumption to dodge and shoot their way through all the game’s challenges.

Mecha Musume

The game looks like it draws greatly from the Mecha Musume genre, also known as Girlpla- a style of model kits that feature cute girls wearing what armor that you’d otherwise see on giant mechs like Gundam.

One of the most popular Mecha Musume model kit lines would be Kotobukiya’s Frame Arms Girls, though in recent years Bandai had also entered the market with the 30 Minutes Sisters line of highly customizable figures.
