Reuben Langdon has addressed the reason for his removal from Capcom titles, claiming that it was Yoshinori Ono’s decision to part ways with the voice actor.

In a Twitter Space today, Langdon promised to clarify his absence from recent Capcom titles- such as reprising his role as Ken in Street Fighter 6 or Dante for Devil May Cry: Peak of Combat.

Many speculated that Reuben Langdon was removed for his pro-conspiracy theory views- particularly his anti-vaccine stance during COVID.

On His Removal From Street Fighter 6

Fans had noticed that Langdon was no longer the voice of Ken since his debut trailer for Street Fighter 6

In the space, he instead clarifies that it was fallout from an interview he did with Newsweek, which painted him in a bad light, well before COVID even started.

Langdon says that the interview uses many quotes of him out of context, with comments painting him as being against movements like Black Lives Matter and in support of Vic Mignona, who was accused of sexual harassment.

He says after the interview was published, Ono had him removed from future projects without consulting him.

“[Ono] saw it, I guess he lost his shit”, Langdon says. “He didn’t understand the nuances, he didn’t bother to reach out to me to ask”

“I tried to get a meeting”, he says repeatedly, saying that Ono refused to talk to him about the situation

While the decision by Ono ended his affiliation with Street Fighter, Langdon explained that the Devil May Cry team was still open to working with him during development for DMC V Special Edition.

He also said that his lack of involvement in mobile spinoff Peak of Combat was because he was told the project was cancelled.

According to Langdon, he was ready to record the audio for the game, having been told it was discontinued.

“My guess was that they literally didn’t have enough money to finish the game”, he says.

Reuben Langdon And Conspiracy Theories

The Twitter Space itself does little to shed the image of Reuben Langdon as anything but a paranoid conspiracy theorist- after discussing the Capcom issues he goes on to talk about how he vocally opposed having to wear a face mask or get vaccinated.

Similarly, he’s voiced his support for right-wing extremists like former Fox News personality Tucker Carlson and Joe Rogan.

He also goes on a transphobic rant talking about hot-button topics like trans athletes in the Olympics.

Capcom has previously disavowed statements by Langdon, saying that his statements are not endorsed by the company.

We’ve reached out to Capcom for comment about his Space and will update this with their response.
