For example, Fallout New Vegas had a concurrent playerbase of over 20,000 users- more than 10 times the players at the same time last week.

Of course, part of this is also the brilliant move to have the games themselves on sale- right now the entire series is at least 75% off, with content-rich games like Fallout New Vegas and Fallout 3 being as low as RM7.49.

Fallout 1 is a great CRPG experience, if you like the constant threat of dying to RNG

For those planning to get into the Fallout games, here’s a quick primer: Fallout 1 and 2 are point-and-click RPGs, while 3, New Vegas and 4 are first-person ones.

There’s no need to worry about playing them all in order either, since each game is its own self-contained story rather than direct sequels to each other.

It’s becoming clear that the age of the tie-in game is at an end- instead the pipeline is such that people are being pulled into games after seeing the media inspired by them.

Cyberpunk 2077 saw a similar surge of interest after the release of Netflix anime Edgerunners- with the game’s Phantom Liberty expansion even sneaking in easter eggs to the anime in the game’s UI.
