The release date for Ed in Street Fighter 6 has been announced, with Capcom putting out a new trailer showing off the Psycho-powered boxer’s gameplay.

In the trailer, they confirmed that Ed would release in Street Fighter 6 on February 27th, 2024.

Similarly, a PlayStation Blog also went into more detail on Ed’s playstyle.

How Street Fighter 6 Ed Plays

As the second returning DLC character, Ed is the game’s Boxer archetype, similar to previous Boxers like Dudley and Balrog.

Street Fighter 6 Ed retains a lot of his playstyle from Street Fighter V, being able to pull in opponents who get away from him as well as slow moving projectiles for juggling enemies in the air.

One big change, however, is the elimination of kick buttons from his moveset- instead these will be used for his flicker stance, that allows him to do quick jabs in different directions to mix up his opponents and open up their defense.

Similarly, he also has a new move in Kill Switch, which allows him to move forwards or backwards with special follow-up attacks for punishing careless opponents.

One more big change coming to Ed in Street Fighter 6 is an update to how his moves work- Classic-Control Ed will now feature motion inputs, with quarter-circles and Dragon Punch motions being specifically mentioned, whereas the one-button style of his previous appearance is relegated to Modern Controls.

Aside from Ed, the DLC will also include the new Ruined Lab stage, which is set in the ruins of Shadaloo and contains easter eggs like more backup bodies for M.Bison in the background.

Street Fighter 6 is one of the games that has been announced for this year’s EVO main stage.
